Recently-retired 49er Eric Wright returned to Levi Stadium in Santa Clara on Sunday to host his Taste of Champions Event. Benefiting the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano and Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties, ticketholders were able to mingle with some of America’s biggest sports stars, taste the dishes of Levi’s Stadium Chef Santana Diaz, and participate in silent and live auctions.
Guests were offered the opportunity to meet and mingle with some of their idols from the world of sports; in attendance were Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi, Stanley Cup champion Bret Hedican, former 49ers head coach George Seifert, former 49ers linebacker Keena Turner, Fred Biletnikoff and many more. Their attendance and support played a major role in helping Eric Wright give back to an area that gave him so much, by fighting hunger within the ranks of our youth.
I have made it a personal mission to give back to the community that has given so much to me,” said Wright. “That’s why I’m fired up to share that Taste of Champions benefits the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, and Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties. We all know malnourished kids are at a disadvantage. But with your help, we can make sure that every child has at least one nutritious meal a day and has a chance to live up to their full potential.
In between the tasting and mingling, guests had the opportunity to bid on some fabulous prizes during a live and a silent auction. The prizes included a trip for two to the screening of the hit show “Dancing With the Stars”, and a return trip to Levi Stadium with two tickets for next year’s Super Bowl 50.
